“Tīhi kho, anuruddha, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjati. 
“When females have three qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell. 
Idha, anuruddha, mātugāmo pubbaṇhasamayaṁ maccheramalapariyuṭṭhitena cetasā agāraṁ ajjhāvasati, majjhanhikasamayaṁ issāpariyuṭṭhitena cetasā agāraṁ ajjhāvasati, sāyanhasamayaṁ kāmarāgapariyuṭṭhitena cetasā agāraṁ ajjhāvasati. 
A female lives at home with a heart full of the stain of stinginess in the morning, jealousy at midday, and sexual desire in the evening. 
Imehi kho, anuruddha, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjatī”ti. 
When females have these three qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.”

Ko nu kho, bhante, hetu ko paccayo, yena midhekacco mātugāmo abhirūpā ca hoti dassanīyā pāsādikā paramāya vaṇṇapokkharatāya samannāgatā; 
And why are some females attractive, good-looking, lovely, of surpassing beauty; 
Ko pana, bhante, hetu ko paccayo, yena midhekacco mātugāmo abhirūpā ca hoti dassanīyā pāsādikā paramāya vaṇṇapokkharatāya samannāgatā, aḍḍhā ca hoti mahaddhanā mahābhogā mahesakkhā cā”ti? 
And why are some females attractive, good-looking, lovely, of surpassing beauty; and rich, affluent, wealthy, and illustrious?” 
“Idha, mallike, ekacco mātugāmo kodhanā hoti upāyāsabahulā. 
“Take a female who is irritable and bad-tempered. 
Idha pana, mallike, ekacco mātugāmo kodhanā hoti upāyāsabahulā. 
Take another female who is irritable and bad-tempered. … 
Idha pana, mallike, ekacco mātugāmo akkodhanā hoti anupāyāsabahulā. 
Take another female who isn’t irritable and bad-tempered. …

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṁ araññagataṁ vā rukkhamūlagataṁ vā suññāgāragataṁ vā mātugāmo upasaṅkamitvā ūhasati ullapati ujjagghati uppaṇḍeti.  It’s when a mendicant who has gone to a wilderness, or to the root of a tree, or to an empty hut is approached by a female. She smiles, chats, laughs, and teases him. 
So mātugāmena ūhasiyamāno ullapiyamāno ujjagghiyamāno uppaṇḍiyamāno saṁsīdati visīdati, na santhambhati, na sakkoti brahmacariyaṁ sandhāretuṁ. 
He falters and founders. He doesn’t stay firm, and fails to keep up the spiritual life. 
Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṁ araññagataṁ vā rukkhamūlagataṁ vā suññāgāragataṁ vā mātugāmo upasaṅkamitvā abhinisīdati abhinipajjati ajjhottharati. 
It’s when a mendicant who has gone to a wilderness, or to the root of a tree, or to an empty hut is approached by a female. She sits right by him, lies down, or embraces him. 
So mātugāmena abhinisīdiyamāno abhinipajjiyamāno ajjhotthariyamāno sikkhaṁ apaccakkhāya dubbalyaṁ anāvikatvā methunaṁ dhammaṁ paṭisevati. 
Without resigning the training and declaring his inability to continue, he has sex. 
Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṁ araññagataṁ vā rukkhamūlagataṁ vā suññāgāragataṁ vā mātugāmo upasaṅkamitvā abhinisīdati abhinipajjati ajjhottharati. 
It’s when a mendicant who has gone to a wilderness, or to the root of a tree, or to an empty hut is approached by a female. She sits right by him, lies down, or embraces him. 
So mātugāmena abhinisīdiyamāno abhinipajjiyamāno ajjhotthariyamāno viniveṭhetvā vinimocetvā yena kāmaṁ pakkamati. 
But he disentangles and frees himself, and goes wherever he wants.

You fall into an offense for sitting in a private place with someone of the opposite sex. You fall into an offense for sitting in a hidden place with someone of the opposite sex. You fall into an offense for teaching more than five or six sentences to someone of the opposite sex. You have a lot of sensual thoughts.

This is a female’s venom: 
yebhuyyena, bhikkhave, mātugāmo tibbarāgo. 
usually she’s very lustful. 
Tatridaṁ, bhikkhave, mātugāmassa dujjivhatā— 
This is a female’s forked tongue: 
yebhuyyena, bhikkhave, mātugāmo pisuṇavāco. 
usually she speaks divisively. 
Tatridaṁ, bhikkhave, mātugāmassa mittadubbhitā— 
This is a female’s treachery: 
yebhuyyena, bhikkhave, mātugāmo aticārinī. 
usually she’s an adulteress. 
Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ādīnavā mātugāme”ti. 
These are the five drawbacks of a female.”

“Idha, brāhmaṇa, ekacco samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā sammā brahmacārī paṭijānamāno na heva kho mātugāmena saddhiṁ dvayaṁdvayasamāpattiṁ samāpajjati;  “Firstly, an ascetic or brahmin who claims to be perfectly celibate does not mutually engage in sex with a female. 
api ca kho mātugāmassa ucchādanaparimaddananhāpanasambāhanaṁ sādiyati. 
However, they consent to being anointed, massaged, bathed, and rubbed by a female. 
Puna caparaṁ, brāhmaṇa, idhekacco samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā sammā brahmacārī paṭijānamāno na heva kho mātugāmena saddhiṁ dvayaṁdvayasamāpattiṁ samāpajjati, napi mātugāmassa ucchādanaparimaddananhāpanasambāhanaṁ sādiyati; 
Furthermore, an ascetic or brahmin who claims to be perfectly celibate does not mutually engage in sex with a female. Nor do they consent to massage and bathing. 
api ca kho mātugāmena saddhiṁ sañjagghati saṅkīḷati saṅkelāyati …pe…. 
However, they giggle and play and have fun with females. … 
Napi mātugāmena saddhiṁ sañjagghati saṅkīḷati saṅkelāyati; 
 
api ca kho mātugāmassa cakkhunā cakkhuṁ upanijjhāyati pekkhati …pe…. 
they gaze into a female’s eyes. … 
Napi mātugāmassa cakkhunā cakkhuṁ upanijjhāyati pekkhati;

they listen through a wall or rampart to the sound of females laughing or chatting or singing or crying. … 
Napi mātugāmassa saddaṁ suṇāti tirokuṭṭaṁ vā tiropākāraṁ vā hasantiyā vā bhaṇantiyā vā gāyantiyā vā rodantiyā vā; 
 
api ca kho yānissa tāni pubbe mātugāmena saddhiṁ hasitalapitakīḷitāni tāni anussarati …pe….

Anger is the power of females. Weapons are the power of bandits. Authority is the power of rulers. Complaining is the power of fools. Reason is the power of the astute. Take the case of a female whose mother and father give her to a husband wanting what’s best for her, out of kindness and sympathy. She would get up before him and go to bed after him, and be obliging, behaving nicely and speaking politely. 
Imehi kho, anuruddha, aṭṭhahi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā manāpakāyikānaṁ devānaṁ sahabyataṁ upapajjatīti. 
When they have these eight qualities females—when their body breaks up, after death—are reborn in company with the Gods of the Agreeable Host.

Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti, saṅgahitaparijano, bhattu manāpaṁ carati, sambhataṁ anurakkhati. 
It’s when a female is well-organized at work, manages the domestic help, acts lovingly toward her husband, and preserves his earnings. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti? 
And how is a female well-organized at work? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo ye te bhattu abbhantarā kammantā—uṇṇāti vā kappāsāti vā—tattha dakkhā hoti analasā tatrupāyāya vīmaṁsāya samannāgatā alaṁ kātuṁ alaṁ saṁvidhātuṁ. 
It’s when she’s deft and tireless in doing domestic duties for her husband, such as knitting and sewing. She understands how to go about things in order to complete and organize the work. 
Evaṁ kho, visākhe, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti. 
That’s how a female is well-organized at work. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo saṅgahitaparijano hoti? 
And how does a female manage the domestic help? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo yo so bhattu abbhantaro antojano—dāsāti vā pessāti vā kammakarāti vā— 
It’s when she knows what work her husband’s domestic bondservants, servants, and workers have completed, and what they’ve left incomplete. 
Evaṁ kho, visākhe, mātugāmo saṅgahitaparijano hoti. 
That’s how a female manages the domestic help. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo bhattu manāpaṁ carati? 
And how does a female act lovingly toward her husband? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo yaṁ bhattu amanāpasaṅkhātaṁ taṁ jīvitahetupi na ajjhācarati. 
It’s when a female would not transgress in any way that her husband would not consider agreeable, even for the sake of her own life. 
Evaṁ kho, visākhe, mātugāmo bhattu manāpaṁ carati. 
That’s how a female acts lovingly toward her husband. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo sambhataṁ anurakkhati? 
And how does a female preserve his earnings? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo yaṁ bhattā āharati dhanaṁ vā dhaññaṁ vā rajataṁ vā jātarūpaṁ vā taṁ ārakkhena guttiyā sampādeti, tattha ca hoti adhuttī athenī asoṇḍī avināsikā. 
It’s when she ensures that any income her husband earns is guarded and protected, whether money, grain, silver, or gold. She doesn’t overspend, steal, waste, or lose it. 
Evaṁ kho, visākhe, mātugāmo sambhataṁ anurakkhati. 
That’s how a female preserves his earnings. 
Imehi kho, visākhe, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo idhalokavijayāya paṭipanno hoti, ayaṁsa loko āraddho hoti. 
A female who has these four qualities is practicing to win in this life, and she succeeds at it. 
Catūhi kho, visākhe, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo paralokavijayāya paṭipanno hoti, paraloko āraddho hoti. 
A female who has four qualities is practicing to win in the next life, and she succeeds at it.

It’s when a female is accomplished in faith, ethics, generosity, and wisdom.

And how is a female accomplished in faith? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo saddho hoti, saddahati tathāgatassa bodhiṁ: 
It’s when a female has faith in the Realized One’s awakening:

That’s how a female is accomplished in faith. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo sīlasampanno hoti? 
And how is a female accomplished in ethics? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo pāṇātipātā paṭivirato hoti …pe… surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā paṭivirato hoti. 
It’s when a female doesn’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or consume alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. 
Evaṁ kho, visākhe, mātugāmo sīlasampanno hoti. 
That’s how a female is accomplished in ethics. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo cāgasampanno hoti? 
And how is a female accomplished in generosity? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo vigatamalamaccherena cetasā agāraṁ ajjhāvasati muttacāgā payatapāṇinī vossaggaratā yācayogā dānasaṁvibhāgaratā.

That’s how a female is accomplished in generosity. 
Kathañca, visākhe, mātugāmo paññāsampanno hoti? 
And how is a female accomplished in wisdom? 
Idha, visākhe, mātugāmo paññavā hoti …pe… 
It’s when a female is wise. She has the wisdom of arising and passing away which is noble, penetrative, and leads to the complete ending of suffering.

Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti, saṅgahitaparijano, bhattu manāpaṁ carati, sambhataṁ anurakkhati. 
It’s when a female is well-organized at work, manages the domestic help, acts lovingly toward her husband, and preserves his earnings. 
Kathañca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti? 
And how is a female well-organized at work? 
Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo ye te bhattu abbhantarā kammantā …pe… 
It’s when she’s skilled and tireless in doing domestic duties for her husband … 
evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo susaṁvihitakammanto hoti. 
That’s how a female is well-organized at work. 
Kathañca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo saṅgahitaparijano hoti? 
And how does a female manage the domestic help? 
Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo yo so bhattu abbhantaro antojano …pe… 
It’s when she knows what work her husband’s domestic bondservants, servants, and workers have completed, and what they’ve left incomplete. She knows who is sick, and who is fit or unwell. She distributes to each a fair portion of fresh and cooked foods. 
evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo saṅgahitaparijano hoti. 
That’s how a female manages the domestic help. 
Kathañca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo bhattu manāpaṁ carati? 
And how does a female act lovingly toward her husband? 
Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo yaṁ bhattu amanāpasaṅkhātaṁ taṁ jīvitahetupi na ajjhācarati. 
It’s when a female would not transgress in any way that her husband would not consider agreeable, even for the sake of her own life. 
Evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo bhattu manāpaṁ carati. 
That’s how a female acts lovingly toward her husband. 
Kathañca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo sambhataṁ anurakkhati? 
And how does a female preserve his earnings? 
Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo yaṁ bhattā āharati …pe… 
It’s when she tries to guard and protect any income her husband earns … 
evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo sambhataṁ anurakkhati. 
That’s how a female preserves his earnings. 
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo idhalokavijayāya paṭipanno hoti, ayaṁsa loko āraddho hoti.

It’s when a female doesn’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie,

Then Mahāpajāpati Gotamī thought, “The Buddha does not permit females to go forth.” Miserable and sad, weeping, with a tearful face, she bowed, and respectfully circled the Buddha, keeping him on her right, before leaving. 
“Tathā hi pana, bhante ānanda, na bhagavā anujānāti mātugāmassa tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajjan”ti. 
“Honorable Ānanda, it’s because the Buddha does not permit females to go forth in the teaching and training proclaimed by the Realized One.” 
“Tena hi tvaṁ, gotami, muhuttaṁ idheva tāva hohi, yāvāhaṁ bhagavantaṁ yācāmi mātugāmassa tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajjan”ti. 
“Well then, Gotamī, wait here an hour while I ask the Buddha to grant the going forth for females.” 
‘na bhagavā anujānāti mātugāmassa tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajjan’ti. 
She says that it’s because the Buddha does not permit females to go forth.

“Sir, is a female able to realize the fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection once she has gone forth?” 
“Bhabbo, ānanda, mātugāmo tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajitvā sotāpattiphalampi sakadāgāmiphalampi anāgāmiphalampi arahattaphalampi sacchikātun”ti. 
“She is able, Ānanda.” 
“Sace, bhante, bhabbo mātugāmo tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajitvā sotāpattiphalampi …pe… arahattaphalampi sacchikātuṁ; 
“If a female is able to realize the fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection once she has gone forth.

“Ānanda, if females had not gained the going forth from the lay life to homelessness in the teaching and training proclaimed by the Realized One, the spiritual life would have lasted long. The true teaching would have remained for a thousand years. 
Yato ca kho, ānanda, mātugāmo tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajito, na dāni, ānanda, brahmacariyaṁ ciraṭṭhitikaṁ bhavissati. 
But since they have gained the going forth, now the spiritual life will not last long. 
evamevaṁ kho, ānanda, yasmiṁ dhammavinaye labhati mātugāmo agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajjaṁ, na taṁ brahmacariyaṁ ciraṭṭhitikaṁ hoti. 
In the same way, the spiritual life does not last long in a teaching and training where females gain the going forth.

Seeing shows is a thorn to someone restraining the senses. Lingering in the neighborhood of females is a thorn to celibacy. Sound is a thorn to the first absorption. Placing the mind and keeping it connected are a thorn to the second absorption. Rapture is a thorn to the third absorption. Breathing is a thorn to the fourth absorption. Perception and feeling are a thorn to the attainment of the cessation of perception and feeling. Greed, hate, and delusion are thorns.

This is the first kind of suffering that particularly applies to females.

This is the third kind of suffering that particularly applies to females.

This is the fourth kind of suffering that particularly applies to females. 
Puna caparaṁ, bhikkhave, mātugāmo purisassa pāricariyaṁ upeti. 
Furthermore, a female provides services for a man. 
Idaṁ kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmassa pañcamaṁ āveṇikaṁ dukkhaṁ, yaṁ mātugāmo paccanubhoti, aññatreva purisehi. 
This is the fifth kind of suffering that particularly applies to females. 
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca mātugāmassa āveṇikāni dukkhāni, yāni mātugāmo paccanubhoti, aññatreva purisehī”ti. 
These are the five kinds of suffering that particularly apply to females. They’re undergone by females and not by men.”

“Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo yebhuyyena kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjati.  “Mendicants, when females have three qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are mostly reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell. 
Idha, bhikkhave, mātugāmo pubbaṇhasamayaṁ maccheramalapariyuṭṭhitena cetasā agāraṁ ajjhāvasati. 
A female lives at home with a heart full of the stain of stinginess in the morning, jealousy in the afternoon, and sexual desire in the evening. 
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo yebhuyyena kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjatī”ti. 
When females have these three qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are mostly reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.”

“idhāhaṁ, bhante, mātugāmaṁ passāmi dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjantaṁ.  “Sometimes, sir, with my clairvoyance that’s purified and superhuman, I see that a female—when her body breaks up, after death—is reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell. 
Katīhi nu kho, bhante, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjatī”ti? 
How many qualities do females have so that they’re reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell?” 
“Pañcahi kho, anuruddha, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjati. 
“Anuruddha, when females have five qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi balehi samannāgato mātugāmo visārado agāraṁ ajjhāvasatī”ti. 
A female living at home with these five qualities is self-assured.”

A female living at home with these five powers has her husband under her thumb.”

A female living at home with these five powers has her husband under her mastery.”

“Ekena ca kho, bhikkhave, balena samannāgato puriso mātugāmaṁ abhibhuyya vattati.  “Mendicants, when a man has one power he has a female under his mastery. 
Issariyabalena abhibhūtaṁ mātugāmaṁ neva rūpabalaṁ tāyati, na bhogabalaṁ tāyati, na ñātibalaṁ tāyati, na puttabalaṁ tāyati, na sīlabalaṁ tāyatī”ti. 
The power of authority. Mastered by this, a female’s powers of attractiveness, wealth, relatives, children, and ethical behavior do not avail her.”

Rūpabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, na ca bhogabalena— 
A female who has the power of attractiveness but not the power of wealth 
Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo rūpabalena ca samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca— 
But when she has the power of attractiveness and the power of wealth 
Rūpabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, na ca ñātibalena— 
A female who has the powers of attractiveness and wealth, but not the power of relatives 
Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo rūpabalena ca samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, ñātibalena ca— 
But when she has the powers of attractiveness, wealth, and relatives 
Rūpabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, ñātibalena ca, na ca puttabalena— 
A female who has the powers of attractiveness, wealth, and relatives, but not the power of children 
Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo rūpabalena ca samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, ñātibalena ca, puttabalena ca— 
But when she has the powers of attractiveness, wealth, relatives, and children 
Rūpabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, ñātibalena ca, puttabalena ca, na ca sīlabalena— 
A female who has the powers of attractiveness, wealth, relatives, and children, but not the power of ethical behavior 
Yato ca kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo rūpabalena ca samannāgato hoti, bhogabalena ca, ñātibalena ca, puttabalena ca, sīlabalena ca— 
But when she has the powers of attractiveness, wealth, relatives, children, and ethical behavior 
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca mātugāmassa balānī”ti. 
These are the five powers of a female.”

If a female has the power of ethical behavior but not that of wealth, the family will accommodate her, they won’t send her away. 
Sīlabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, na ca ñātibalena, vāsenteva naṁ, kule na nāsenti. 
If a female has the power of ethical behavior but not that of relatives, the family will accommodate her, they won’t send her away. 
Sīlabalena ca, bhikkhave, mātugāmo samannāgato hoti, na ca puttabalena, vāsenteva naṁ, kule na nāsenti. 
If a female has the power of ethical behavior but not that of children, the family will accommodate her, they won’t send her away. 
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca mātugāmassa balānī”ti.

Na, bhikkhave, mātugāmo rūpabalahetu vā bhogabalahetu vā ñātibalahetu vā puttabalahetu vā kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjati. 
It is not because of the powers of attractiveness, wealth, relatives, or children that females, when their body breaks up, after death, are reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. 
Sīlabalahetu kho, bhikkhave, mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjati. 
It is because of the power of ethical behavior that females, when their body breaks up, after death, are reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. 
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca mātugāmassa balānī”ti. 
These are the five powers of a female.”

“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, ṭhānāni dullabhāni akatapuññena mātugāmena.  “Mendicants, there are five things that are hard to get for females who have not made merit. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, paṭhamaṁ ṭhānaṁ dullabhaṁ akatapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the first thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, dutiyaṁ ṭhānaṁ dullabhaṁ akatapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the second thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, tatiyaṁ ṭhānaṁ dullabhaṁ akatapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the third thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, catutthaṁ ṭhānaṁ dullabhaṁ akatapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the fourth thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, pañcamaṁ ṭhānaṁ dullabhaṁ akatapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the fifth thing. 
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca ṭhānāni dullabhāni akatapuññena mātugāmenāti. 
These are the five things that are hard to get for females who have not made merit. 
Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, ṭhānāni sulabhāni katapuññena mātugāmena. 
There are five things that are easy to get for females who have made merit. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, paṭhamaṁ ṭhānaṁ sulabhaṁ katapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the first thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, dutiyaṁ ṭhānaṁ sulabhaṁ katapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the second thing. 
idaṁ, bhikkhave, tatiyaṁ ṭhānaṁ sulabhaṁ katapuññena mātugāmena. 
This is the third thing.
