Bhikkhu ca khīṇāsavo, assājānīyo ca.  A mendicant who has ended defilements; and a thoroughbred horse. 

“Tayo ca, bhikkhave, bhadre assājānīye desessāmi tayo ca bhadre purisājānīye.  “Mendicants, I will teach you the three fine thoroughbred horses, and the three fine thoroughbred people. 
“Katame ca, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrā assājānīyā? 
“What are the three fine thoroughbred horses? 
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco bhadro assājānīyo …pe… 
One fine thoroughbred horse … 
Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrā assājānīyā. 
These are the three fine thoroughbred horses. 

“Tayo ca, bhikkhave, assakhaḷuṅke desessāmi tayo ca purisakhaḷuṅke tayo ca assaparasse tayo ca purisaparasse tayo ca bhadde assājānīye tayo ca bhadde purisājānīye.  “Mendicants, I will teach you about three wild colts and three wild people; three excellent horses and three excellent people; and three fine thoroughbred horses and three fine thoroughbred people.

Katame ca, bhikkhave, tayo bhaddā assājānīyā? 
And what are the three fine thoroughbred horses? 
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco bhaddo assājānīyo …pe… 
One fine thoroughbred horse … 
Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo bhaddā assājānīyā. 
These are the three fine thoroughbred horses. 

Atha kho taṁ, ānanda, assaratanaṁ seyyathāpi nāma bhaddo assājāniyo dīgharattaṁ suparidanto; evameva damathaṁ upagacchi.  Then the horse-treasure submitted to taming, as if he was a fine thoroughbred horse that had been tamed for a long time. 

Atha kho taṁ, bhikkhave, assaratanaṁ seyyathāpi nāma bhaddo assājānīyo dīgharattaṁ suparidanto evameva damathaṁ upeti.  Then the horse-treasure submitted to taming, as if he were a fine thoroughbred horse that had been tamed for a long time.
