Thus have I heard: |
At one time, the Buddha was at Anāthapiṇḍada's Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī. | |
At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus, "It is very difficult to have two people appear in the world. Who are the two? It is very difficult to have a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One appear in the world; it is very difficult to have a wheel-turning sage-king appear in the world. It is very difficult to have these two people appear in the world." |
At that time, the bhikṣus, having heard the Buddha's teaching, rejoiced and received it respectfully. | |
