Thus have I heard: |
At one time, the Buddha was at Anāthapiṇḍada's Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī. | |
At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus, "It is very difficult to have two kinds of people appear in the world. What are the two? It is very difficult to have pratyekabuddhas appear in the world; it is very difficult to have the Tathāgata's disciples who have exhausted the taints and attained arahantship appear in the world. These are the two kinds of people who are very difficult to have appear in the world." |
At that time, the bhikṣus, having heard the Buddha's teaching, rejoiced and received it respectfully. | |
