Chapter 10 林品

111. (一一一)达梵行经

I have heard thus:

我闻如是:

At one time, the Buddha was wandering in Kuru and stayed at the city of Kumbhahattha in Kuru.

一时,佛游拘楼瘦,在剑磨瑟昙拘楼都邑。

At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus, "I will teach you the Dharma, which is wonderful in the beginning, wonderful in the middle, and wonderful in the end, with meaning and expression, complete and pure, revealing the holy life, called 'attaining the holy life, able to exhaust all taints.' Listen carefully and keep it in mind." At that time, the bhikṣus accepted the teaching and listened.

尔时,世尊告诸比丘:「我当为汝说法,初妙、中妙、竟亦妙,有文有义,具足清净,显现梵行,谓名达梵行,能尽诸漏。汝等谛听,善思念之。」时,诸比丘受教而听。

The World-Honored One said, "You should know the taints, know the causes of the taints, know the results of the taints, know the superiority of the taints, know the complete cessation of the taints, and know the path to the cessation of the taints. You should know the perceptions, know the causes of the perceptions, know the results of the perceptions, know the superiority of the perceptions, know the complete cessation of the perceptions, and know the path to the cessation of the perceptions. You should know the thoughts, know the causes of the thoughts, know the results of the thoughts, know the superiority of the thoughts, know the complete cessation of the thoughts, and know the path to the cessation of the thoughts. You should know the desires, know the causes of the desires, know the results of the desires, know the superiority of the desires, know the complete cessation of the desires, and know the path to the cessation of the desires. You should know the actions, know the causes of the actions, know the results of the actions, know the superiority of the actions, know the complete cessation of the actions, and know the path to the cessation of the actions. You should know the suffering, know the causes of the suffering, know the results of the suffering, know the superiority of the suffering, know the complete cessation of the suffering, and know the path to the cessation of the suffering.
