Madhyamāgama
Chapter 11 大品
I have heard thus: | 我闻如是: |
At one time, the Buddha was traveling in the country of Śrāvastī, staying at the Jeta Grove Anāthapiṇḍada-ārāma. | |
At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the bhikṣus, saying: "The Tathāgata himself realizes the world and also explains it to others. The Tathāgata knows the world. The Tathāgata himself realizes the practice of the world and also explains it to others. The Tathāgata has eliminated the practice of the world. The Tathāgata himself realizes the cessation of the world and also explains it to others. The Tathāgata has realized the cessation of the world. The Tathāgata himself realizes the path of the world and also explains it to others. The Tathāgata cultivates the path of the world. If there is anything that is completely and correctly realized, then all of that is known, seen, and realized by the Tathāgata. Why is this? Because the Tathāgata, from the night of his supreme and perfect awakening in the past until this night, will attain parinirvāṇa in the realm of nirvāṇa without remainder in between. Whatever the Tathāgata has spoken or responded to with his mouth, all of that is true, not false, not apart from reality, not inverted, truly and accurately so. If he speaks of the lion, it is as he says. Why is this? Because when the Tathāgata is in the assembly and speaks, it is called the lion's roar. All the world, including the devas, Māra, Brahmā, śramaṇas, brāhmaṇas, humans, and devas, the Tathāgata is the one who has the brahman, the Tathāgata is the one who has attained coolness, without afflictions and without heat, truly and accurately so." Then the World-Honored One spoke this verse: | 尔时,世尊告诸比丘:「如来自觉世间,亦为他说,如来知世间。
