Thus have I heard: | 如是我闻： |
Thus have I heard: | 一时，佛在舍卫国祇树给孤独园。尔时，有一比丘尼，名曰折罗，于其晨朝，著衣持钵，入城乞食，食讫洗钵，收摄坐具，入得眼林，在一树下，正身端坐，入于天住。尔时，魔王作是念言：「沙门瞿昙在舍卫国祇树给孤独园，中有一比丘尼，名曰折罗，于其晨朝，著衣持钵，入城乞食，食已洗钵，收摄坐具，入得眼林中，在一树下坐，入于天住。我今当往而作扰乱。」尔时，魔王作是念已，化摩纳形，往至其所，而语之言：「阿利耶欲生何处？」 |
The bhikṣuṇī said, "As I am now, there is nowhere to be reborn." | 比丘尼言：「如我今者，都无生处。」 |
At that time, the young man spoke a verse, saying: | 尔时，摩纳即说偈言： |
Those who are born must attain happiness, and those who are born must enjoy
the five desires. Who instructed you to say that you will not be reborn again?
| 「有生必得乐， 生必受五欲，汝受谁教勅， 言不用复生？」

The bhikṣuṇī Chélu replied in verse, | 折罗比丘尼说偈报言： |
Those who are born must die, and are bound by
all kinds of suffering. All suffering should be eliminated, therefore
I do not seek rebirth. The Sage with eyes of
wisdom has spoken this true and real Dharma. Suffering arises
from the causes of suffering, all should be abandoned. Cultivating
the noble eightfold path, peacefully heading towards nirvāṇa, the World
Honored One has instructed me, I delight in this teaching
I have realized that Dharma, therefore I do not delight
in rebirth. Eliminating all craving, extinguishing the darkness of ignorance
attaining the state of cessation, abiding in the undefiled Dharma
Therefore you should know, Māra, you have lost!
| 「生者必有死， 众苦所缠缚，一切苦应断， 是以不求生。具眼牟尼尊， 说斯真谛法，苦因生于苦， 皆应舍离之。修圣八正道， 安隐趣涅槃，世尊教导我， 我乐是教法。我证知彼法， 是故不乐生，断除一切爱， 灭诸无明暗，逮得于灭尽， 安住无漏法。以是故当知， 波旬堕负处。」

At that time, Māra thought, "This bhikṣuṇī knows my mind well." He was sorrowful, regretful, ashamed, and returned to his palace. | 尔时，波旬而作是念：「此比丘尼善知我心。」忧愁悔恨，惭愧还宫。 |
