Thus have I heard: | 如是我闻： |
Thus have I heard: | 一时，佛在舍卫国祇树给孤独园。尔时，王园精舍有一比丘尼，名曰动头，于其晨朝，著衣持钵，入城乞食，乞食已，洗钵洗足，摄持坐具，诣得眼林，在一树下，正身端坐，入于天住。尔时，魔王作是念言：「瞿昙沙门在舍卫城祇树给孤独园。有一比丘尼，名曰动头，于其晨朝，著衣持钵，入舍卫城乞食，乞食已，洗钵洗足，收摄坐具，入得眼林中，在一树下，正身端坐，入于天住。我今欲往而坏乱之。」作是念已，化作摩纳，往诣其所，语比丘尼言「九十六种道，汝乐何道？」 |
The bhikṣuṇī replied, "I do not enjoy this path at all." | 比丘尼答言：「此道我都不乐。」 |
At that time, Pāpīyān spoke a verse, saying: | 尔时，波旬即说偈言： |
Who taught you to shave your head and call yourself a bhikṣuṇī? You
do not want to enjoy the non-Buddhist path, but you are very foolish.
| 「受谁教剃发， 自号比丘尼？不欲乐外道， 汝为甚愚痴。」

The bhikṣuṇī Dhyāyī spoke a verse, saying: | 动头比丘尼复说偈言： |
All these non-Buddhist paths are bound by wrong views
bound by various views, and will eventually fall into
Māra's net. The great Śākya Lord, the incomparable man
supreme in all ways, subdued Māra and sat at
the bodhi-manda, surpassing all, liberated from all things, able
to tame the end of existence. He taught me
he is my World-Honored One, I delight in his
teachings. Now I know him, having eliminated all afflictions
cut off all craving, extinguished all ignorance and darkness
attained the end of cessation, abiding in the undefiled
Dharma. Therefore know that Pāpīyān has fallen into defeat.
| 「此外诸异道， 悉为邪见缚，种种诸见缚， 终竟堕魔网。释种大世尊， 无比之丈夫，一切种中胜， 降魔坐道场，悉过一切上， 诸事皆解脱，能调尽有边。 彼佛教于我，是我之世尊， 我乐彼教法。我今知彼已， 尽除诸结漏，断除一切爱， 灭诸无明暗，逮得于灭尽， 安住无漏法。以是故当知， 波旬堕负处。」

At that time, Pāpīyān thought, "This bhikṣuṇī knows my mind well." He was sorrowful, regretful, ashamed, and returned to his palace. | 尔时，波旬而作是念：「此比丘尼善知我心。」忧愁悔恨，惭愧还宫。 |
