Parallel to: SN 55.53
The Sutra of the Elder Dharmadinna is also like the first sutra spoken by the World-Honored One for the elder Anāthapiṇḍada, and the second sutra is also spoken in the same way. The difference is: "If the elder further relies on these four unshakable pure beliefs, he should cultivate the six recollections above, namely, recollecting the Tathāgata, up to recollecting the gods." |
The elder said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! Relying on the four unshakable pure beliefs, I have now accomplished the six recollections above, and I always cultivate the recollection of the Tathāgata, up to the recollection of the gods." |
The Buddha told the elder: "Excellent! Excellent! You now declare for yourself the fruit of the non-returner." | |
The elder said to the Buddha: "I only wish that the World-Honored One would accept my invitation to a meal." At that time, the World-Honored One silently accepted the invitation. |
The elder, knowing that the Buddha had accepted the invitation, immediately prepared various pure and delicious foods and respectfully made offerings. After the World-Honored One had eaten, he further spoke various teachings to the elder, showing, teaching, illuminating, and delighting him. Then he rose from his seat and departed. |
