Thus have I heard: |
At one time, the Buddha was staying in the wilderness of Rajagriha, together with a group of five hundred bhikshus, teaching the Dharma. The five hundred alms bowls were placed in the courtyard. |
At that time, the World-Honored One spoke to the five hundred bhikshus about the arising and ceasing of the five aggregates. | |

I shall now go and create obstacles for him." He transformed himself into a large bull and went to where the Buddha was, entering among the five hundred alms bowls. The bhikshus then drove it away, not wanting it to damage the bowls. |
At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikshus: "This is not a bull, it is Mara, the Evil One, trying to create disturbances." He then spoke a verse: |

Having spoken this sutra, the Buddha finished. The bhikshus, having heard the Buddha's words, rejoiced and practiced accordingly. | |
