Saṃyuktāgama

Thus have I heard:

At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Deer Park at the Sage's Abode in the country of Varanasi.

At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus, "The one who has realized the four noble truths is called a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One. What are the four? Namely, the noble truth of suffering, the noble truth of the origin of suffering, the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, and the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering. The one who has realized these four noble truths is called a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One. Therefore, bhikṣus, those who have not yet attained the uninterrupted state regarding the four noble truths should diligently cultivate and arouse supreme aspiration to study the uninterrupted state."

After the Buddha had spoken this sūtra, the bhikṣus heard what the Buddha had said and joyfully practiced it.
