SA 721（七二一） 转轮王
Thus have I heard: | 如是我闻： |
At one time the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī. | 一时，佛住舍卫国祇树给孤独园。 |
At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus: "When a wheel-turning sage-king appears in the world, seven treasures appear in the world: the golden wheel treasure, the elephant treasure, the horse treasure, the divine jewel treasure, the jade woman treasure, the treasure minister of the treasury, and the treasure minister of the army. In the same way, when a Tathāgata appears in the world, seven treasures of the factors of awakening also appear. When the king is on the observation tower of the fasting and precepts hall, surrounded by his ministers, the golden wheel treasure appears from the east, with a thousand spokes, complete hub and rim, and all the characteristics of a wheel. With this auspicious sign, it is certain that this is a wheel-turning sage-king. I am now definitely a wheel-turning sage-king." He then took the golden wheel treasure in both hands, placed it in his left hand, and turned it with his right hand, saying: "If this is the golden wheel treasure of a wheel-turning sage-king, it should turn along the ancient path of a wheel-turning sage-king." Then the wheel treasure immediately set off, and the king followed in front, flying through the air to the east, heading towards the east, traveling along the straight path of the ancient sage-kings. The king followed the wheel treasure, and the four divisions of the army also followed. Wherever the wheel treasure stopped, the king also stopped there, and the four divisions of the army also stopped. The minor kings of various countries in the east, seeing the sage-king coming, all submitted to him. | 尔时，世尊告诸比丘：「转轮圣王出世之时，有七宝现于世间，金轮宝、象宝、马宝、神珠宝、玉女宝、主藏臣宝、主兵臣宝。如是，如来出世，亦有七觉分宝现，斋戒处楼观上，大臣围遶，有金轮宝从东方出，轮有千辐，齐毂圆辋，轮相具足，有此吉瑞，必是转轮圣王，我今决定为转轮王。即以两手承金轮宝，著左手中，右手旋转，而说是言：『若是转轮圣王金轮宝者，当复转轮圣王古道而去。』于是轮宝即发，王蕃前随，而于东方乘虚而逝，向于东方，游古圣王正直之道。王随轮宝，四兵亦从，若所至方，轮宝住者，王于彼住，四兵亦住。东方诸国处处小王，见圣王来，悉皆归伏。 |
"When a Tathāgata appears in the world, seven factors of awakening appear in the world, namely: the factor of awakening of mindfulness, the factor of awakening of discrimination of phenomena, the factor of awakening of energy, the factor of awakening of joy, the factor of awakening of tranquility, the factor of awakening of concentration, and the factor of awakening of equanimity." | 「如来出兴于世，有七觉分现于世间，所谓念觉分、择法觉分、精进觉分、喜觉分、猗觉分、定觉分、舍觉分。」 |
Having spoken this sūtra, the bhikṣus were delighted and practiced accordingly. | 佛说此经已，诸比丘闻佛所说，欢喜奉行。 |
