SA 992（九九二） 延清

Thus have I heard:

如是我闻：

At one time the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī.

一时，佛住舍卫国祇树给孤独园。

At that time, the elder Anāthapiṇḍada came to where the Buddha was, bowed his head at the Buddha’s feet, sat to one side, and said to the Buddha, “World-Honored One! How many kinds of fields of merit are there in the world?”

尔时，给孤独长者来诣佛所，稽首佛足，退坐一面，白佛言：「世尊！世间有几种福田？」

The Buddha told the elder, “In the world, there are two kinds of fields of merit. What are the two? The learners and the non-learners.” He then spoke a verse:

佛告长者：「世间有二种福田。何等为二？学及无学。」即说偈言：

In the world, there are learners and non-learners. Great assemblies always invite
them. With a sincere and true mind, body and speech are also
so. This is indeed a good field of merit. The giver obtains great fruit.

「世有学无学，　　大会常延请，正直心真实，　　身口亦复然，是即良福田，　　施者获大果。」

Having spoken this sūtra, the Buddha finished. The elder Anāthapiṇḍada, having heard the Buddha's words, rejoiced and practiced accordingly.

佛说此经已，给孤独长者闻佛所说，欢喜奉行。
