What cannot be stolen by thieves?" [n.116] Se and Ee2 read corehi ʹhariyaṁ, Be corehyahariyaṁ. Both are orthographical attempts to salvage a text that appears to assert the exact opposite of the meaning required. Without such editorial moulding corehi hariyaṁ (the reading of Ee1) would mean, "What is it that thieves should bear away?" —the rendering used at KS 1:51. Spk offers no help. sn.i.37

2v.186 "Virtue is good by not decaying;
Faith is good when made secure;
Wisdom is the precious gem of humans;
Merit cannot be stolen by thieves."

1"Kiṁsu ajarasā sādhu,
kiṁsu sādhu adhiṭṭhitaṁ;
Kiṁsu narānaṁ ratanaṁ,
kiṁsu corehyahāriyan"ti.

2"Sīlaṁ ajarasā sādhu,
saddhā sādhu adhiṭṭhitā;
Paññā narānaṁ ratanaṁ,
puññaṁ corehyahāriyan"ti.
