So iti paṭisañcikkhati: ‘kiṁ nu kho devānaṁ devapadan’ti? So evaṁ pajānāti: ‘abyābajjhaparame khvāhaṁ etarahi deve suṇāmi. Na ca kho panāhaṁ kiñci byābādhemi tasaṁ vā thāvaraṁ vā. Addhāhaṁ devapadadhammasamannāgato viharāmī’ti. Idaṁ paṭhamaṁ devānaṁ devapadaṁ avisuddhānaṁ sattānaṁ visuddhiyā apariyodātānaṁ sattānaṁ pariyodapanāya.
