PWA: install straight from the browser

Install as a PWA

In short, it's the same thing as Dhamma.Gift online — the same site as a standalone app with its own icon, just without installing it through Google Play: one button right in your browser, and an icon appears on your phone or computer, just like a regular app.

Just like Dhamma.Gift online, two small conveniences are added on top of the site:

Shortcuts

A long-press on the app icon on your home screen (or a right-click on the icon in the taskbar on a computer) opens a menu of quick links — straight to where you need, skipping the home page: table of contents, dictionary, Patimokkha, and so on.

You're reading anything — an article, a book in another app, a message — you come across a word or phrase in Pali, select it and send it to Dhamma.Gift through the regular system "Share" menu. The app opens right away with search results for that phrase.

Both conveniences are available on Android and on a computer (Windows/ Mac). On iPhone and iPad (Safari), "Share to Search" doesn't work yet — for a similar result there, the browser extension or the Telegram bot work better.
