Assutavā kho puthujjano attanā byādhidhammo samāno byādhiṁ anatīto paraṁ byādhitaṁ disvā aṭṭīyati harāyati jigucchati attānaṁyeva atisitvā:
‘ahampi khomhi byādhidhammo byādhiṁ anatīto, ahañceva kho pana byādhidhammo samāno byādhiṁ anatīto paraṁ byādhikaṁ disvā aṭṭīyeyyaṁ harāyeyyaṁ jiguccheyyaṁ, na metaṁ assa patirūpan’ti.
Tassa mayhaṁ, bhikkhave, iti paṭisañcikkhato yo ārogye ārogyamado so sabbaso pahīyi.
Assutavā kho puthujjano attanā maraṇadhammo samāno maraṇaṁ anatīto paraṁ mataṁ disvā aṭṭīyati harāyati jigucchati attānaṁyeva atisitvā: ‘When an unlearned ordinary person—who is liable to get sick, not being exempt from sickness—sees someone else who is sick, they’re horrified, repelled, and disgusted, overlooking the fact that they themselves are in the same situation.
But since I, too, am liable to get sick, it would not be appropriate for me to be horrified, embarrassed, and disgusted, when I see someone else who is sick.’
Reflecting like this, I entirely gave up the vanity of health.

Kiñca, bhikkhave, byādhidhammaṁ vadetha?
Puttabhariyaṁ, bhikkhave, byādhidhammaṁ, dāsidāsaṁ byādhidhammaṁ, ajeḷakaṁ byādhidhammaṁ, kukkuṭasūkaraṁ byādhidhammaṁ, hatthigavāssavaḷavaṁ byādhidhammaṁ.
Byādhidhammā hete, bhikkhave, upadhayo.
Etthāyaṁ gathito mucchito ajjhāpanno attanā byādhidhammo samāno byādhidhammaṁyeva pariyesati. И о чём можно сказать как о подверженном болезни?
Жена и дети подвержены болезни, рабы и рабыни, козы и овцы, домашняя птица и свиньи, слоны, рогатый скот, кони и кобылы подвержены болезни.
Эти обретения подвержены болезни.
И тот, кто привязан к этим вещам, очарован ими, всецело предан им, будучи сам подвержен болезни, ищет то, что также подвержено болезни.
Katamañca, bho raṭṭhapāla, byādhipārijuññaṁ?
Idha, bho raṭṭhapāla, ekacco ābādhiko hoti dukkhito bāḷhagilāno.
So iti paṭisañcikkhati:
‘ahaṁ khomhi etarahi ābādhiko dukkhito bāḷhagilāno. И что такое утрата посредством болезни? ",
Бывает так, господин Раттхапала, что некий человек нездоров, поражён болезнью, серьёзно болен. ",
Он рассуждает так: ",

печали, стенанию, боли, грусти и отчаянию приходит желание:
«О, если бы мы не были подвержены печали, стенанию, боли, грусти и отчаянию! О, если бы печали, стенания, боли, грусти и отчаяния не случалось с нами!»
