58. The Seven Treasures （五八）七宝经

I have heard thus:

Once, the Buddha was traveling in the country of Shravasti, staying at the Jetavana Anathapindika-arya-rama.

At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikṣus, "When a wheel-turning king appears in the world, know that the seven treasures will appear in the world. What are the seven? The wheel treasure, elephant treasure, horse treasure, jewel treasure, woman treasure, householder treasure, and general treasure - these are called the seven. When a wheel-turning king appears in the world, know that these seven treasures will appear in the world. Likewise, when a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One appears in the world, know that the seven factors of awakening will appear in the world. What are the seven? The treasure of the factor of awakening of mindfulness, the treasure of the factor of awakening of investigation of phenomena, the treasure of the factor of awakening of energy, the treasure of the factor of awakening of joy, the treasure of the factor of awakening of tranquility, the treasure of the factor of awakening of concentration, and the treasure of the factor of awakening of equanimity - these are called the seven. When a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One appears in the world, know that these seven treasures of the factors of awakening will appear in the world."

The Buddha spoke thus. The bhikṣus, having heard the Buddha's words, rejoiced and practiced accordingly.
