Thus have I heard: |
At one time the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī. | |
At that time the World-Honored One said to the bhikṣus, "Because of what, what arises? What is one attached to, what is one's view of self, that causes sentient beings to have such views and make such statements: 'Form is my self, the rest is delusion; neither form nor not form is my self, the rest is delusion; my self has boundaries, the rest is delusion; my self is boundless, the rest is delusion; my self is neither bounded nor boundless, the rest is delusion. I have a single thought, various thoughts, few thoughts, immeasurable thoughts, I am always happy, always suffering, or both happy and suffering, neither happy nor suffering.'?" ?」 |
The bhikṣus said to the Buddha, "The World-Honored One is the root of the Dharma, the eye of the Dharma, the reliance of the Dharma..." and so on, in detail, as in the previous three sūtras. |
