Bhūtapubbaṁ, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṁse anunayamāno tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi: Once upon a time, Sakka, lord of gods, guiding the gods of the Thirty-Three, recited this verse: Sā kho panesā, bhikkhave, sakkena devānamindena gāthā duggītā na sugītā dubbhāsitā na subhāsitā. But that verse was poorly sung by Sakka, lord of gods, not well sung; poorly spoken, not well spoken. Sakko hi, bhikkhave, devānamindo avītarāgo avītadoso avītamoho. Sakka, lord of gods, is not free of greed, hate, and delusion.

Atha kho, ānanda, sakko devānamindo rañño mahāsudassanassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya vissakammaṁ devaputtaṁ āmantesi: And then Sakka, lord of gods, knowing what the king was thinking, addressed the god Vissakamma, vissakammaṁ → visukammaṁ (mr) ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, ānanda, vissakammo devaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṁ vā bāhaṁ pasāreyya pasāritaṁ vā bāhaṁ samiñjeyya; evameva—devesu tāvatiṁsesu antarahito rañño mahāsudassanassa purato pāturahosi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Vissakamma. Then, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, he vanished from the gods of the Thirty-Three and appeared in front of King Mahāsudassana.

Now at that time Sakka, the lord of gods, grew eager to see the Buddha. “Evaṁ, bhaddantavā”ti kho devā tāvatiṁsā sakkassa devānamindassa paccassosuṁ. “Yes, lord,” replied the gods. “Evaṁ, bhaddantavā”ti kho pañcasikho gandhabbadevaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā beluvapaṇḍuvīṇaṁ ādāya sakkassa devānamindassa anucariyaṁ upāgami. “Yes, lord,” replied the centaur Pañcasikha. Taking his arched harp made from the pale timber of wood-apple, he went as Sakka’s attendant. “Evaṁ, bhaddantavā”ti kho pañcasikho gandhabbadevaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā beluvapaṇḍuvīṇaṁ ādāya yena indasālaguhā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā: “Yes, lord,” replied the centaur Pañcasikha. And he answered our questions!’ “Abhijānāsi no tvaṁ, devānaminda, ito pubbe evarūpaṁ vedapaṭilābhaṁ somanassapaṭilābhan”ti? “Lord of gods, do you recall ever feeling such joy and happiness before?” “Kiṁ pana tvaṁ, devānaminda, atthavasaṁ sampassamāno evarūpaṁ vedapaṭilābhaṁ somanassapaṭilābhaṁ pavedesī”ti? “But lord of gods, what reason do you see for speaking of such joy and happiness?” Imasmiñca pana veyyākaraṇasmiṁ bhaññamāne sakkassa devānamindassa virajaṁ vītamalaṁ dhammacakkhuṁ udapādi: And while this discourse was being spoken, the stainless, immaculate vision of the Dhamma arose in Sakka, lord of gods:
Khettānaṁ adhipatīti kho, vāseṭṭha, ‘khattiyo, khattiyo’ tveva dutiyaṁ akkharaṁ upanibbattaṁ. ‘Lord of the fields’ is the meaning of ‘aristocrat’, the second term applied to them.

Tena kho pana samayena pañcamattāni accharāsatāni sakkassa devānamindassa upaṭṭhānaṁ āgatāni honti kakuṭapādāni. Now at that time five hundred dove-footed nymphs had come to attend to Sakka, the lord of gods.
Tena kho pana samayena sakko devānamindo āyasmato mahākassapassa piṇḍapātaṁ dātukāmo hoti. Now at that time Sakka, lord of Gods, wished to give alms to Mahākassapa. “sakko kho ayaṁ devānamindo”ti. “This is Sakka, lord of Gods.”

Atha kho, ānanda, sakko devānamindo mātaliṁ saṅgāhakaṁ āmantesi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, addressed his charioteer Mātali, ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, ānanda, mātali saṅgāhako sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā sahassayuttaṁ ājaññarathaṁ yojetvā nimiṁ rājānaṁ tattheva mithilaṁ paṭinesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Mātali, and did as Sakka asked.
yāvatā rañño pasenadissa kosalassa vijitaṁ yattha ca rājā pasenadi kosalo issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kāreti, pahoti tattha rājā pasenadi kosalo samaṇaṁ vā brāhmaṇaṁ vā puññavantaṁ vā apuññavantaṁ vā brahmacariyavantaṁ vā abrahmacariyavantaṁ vā tamhā ṭhānā cāvetuṁ vā pabbājetuṁ vā”ti? As far as the dominion of King Pasenadi of Kosala extends, where he rules as sovereign lord, can he topple or expel from that place any ascetic or brahmin, regardless of whether they are good or bad, or whether or not they are genuine spiritual practitioners?” yāvatā rañño pasenadissa kosalassa avijitaṁ yattha ca rājā pasenadi kosalo na issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kāreti, tattha pahoti rājā pasenadi kosalo samaṇaṁ vā brāhmaṇaṁ vā puññavantaṁ vā apuññavantaṁ vā brahmacariyavantaṁ vā abrahmacariyavantaṁ vā tamhā ṭhānā cāvetuṁ vā pabbājetuṁ vā”ti? Tena kho pana samayena candimā devaputto rāhunā asurindena gahito hoti. Now at that time the Moon God had been seized by Rāhu, lord of titans. Atha kho rāhu asurindo candimaṁ devaputtaṁ muñcitvā taramānarūpo yena vepacitti asurindo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā saṁviggo lomahaṭṭhajāto ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Then Rāhu, having released the Moon, rushed to see Vepacitti, lord of titans and stood to one side, shocked and awestruck.
Tena kho pana samayena sūriyo devaputto rāhunā asurindena gahito hoti. Now at that time the Sun God had been seized by Rāhu, lord of titans. Atha kho rāhu asurindo sūriyaṁ devaputtaṁ muñcitvā taramānarūpo yena vepacitti asurindo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā saṁviggo lomahaṭṭhajāto ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Then Rāhu, having released the Sun, rushed to see Vepacitti, lord of titans and stood to one side, shocked and awestruck.
Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā sakko devānamindo imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi: When the Buddha became fully extinguished, Sakka, lord of gods, recited this verse:
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo suvīraṁ devaputtaṁ āmantesi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, addressed the god Suvīra, ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, bhikkhave, suvīro devaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā pamādaṁ āpādesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Suvīra. But he fell into negligence. āpādesi → āharesi (katthaci) ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, bhikkhave, suvīro devaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā dutiyampi pamādaṁ āpādesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Suvīra. But for a second time he fell into negligence. ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, bhikkhave, suvīro devaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā tatiyampi pamādaṁ āpādesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Suvīra. But for a third time he fell into negligence. So hi nāma, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo sakaṁ puññaphalaṁ upajīvamāno devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kārento uṭṭhānavīriyassa vaṇṇavādī bhavissati. So, mendicants, even Sakka, lord of gods—while living off of the fruit of his good and bad deeds, and ruling as sovereign lord over these gods of the Thirty-Three—will speak in praise of initiative and energy.
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo susīmaṁ devaputtaṁ āmantesi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, addressed the god Susīma, susīmaṁ → susimaṁ (sya-all, km, mr) " ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, bhikkhave, susīmo devaputto sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā pamādaṁ āpādesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Susīma. But he fell into negligence. So hi nāma, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo sakaṁ puññaphalaṁ upajīvamāno devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kārento uṭṭhānavīriyassa vaṇṇavādī bhavissati. So, mendicants, even Sakka, lord of gods—while living off of the fruit of his good and bad deeds, and ruling as sovereign lord over these gods of the Thirty-Three—will speak in praise of initiative and energy.
Atha kho, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo asure āmantesi: Then Vepacitti, lord of titans, addressed the titans, ‘sace, mārisā, devānaṁ asurasaṅgāme samupabyūḷhe asurā jineyyuṁ devā parājineyyuṁ, yena naṁ sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ kaṇṭhapañcamehi bandhanehi bandhitvā mama santike āneyyātha asurapuran’ti. ‘My good sirs, if the titans defeat the gods in this battle, bind Sakka, the lord of gods, by his limbs and neck and bring him to my presence in the citadel of the titans.’ parājineyyuṁ → parājeyyuṁ (bj, pts1ed, pts2ed) Sakkopi kho, bhikkhave, devānamindo deve tāvatiṁse āmantesi: Meanwhile, Sakka, lord of gods, addressed the gods of the Thirty-Three, So hi nāma, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo sakaṁ puññaphalaṁ upajīvamāno devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kārento khantisoraccassa vaṇṇavādī bhavissati. So, mendicants, even Sakka, lord of gods—while living off of the fruit of his good and bad deeds, and ruling as sovereign lord over these gods of the Thirty-Three—will speak in praise of patience and gentleness.
Atha kho, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ etadavoca: Then Vepacitti, lord of titans, said to Sakka, lord of gods, ‘hotu, devānaminda, subhāsitena jayo’ti. ‘Lord of gods, let there be victory by fine words!’ Atha kho, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ etadavoca: Then Vepacitti, lord of titans, said to Sakka, lord of gods, ‘bhaṇa, devānaminda, gāthan’ti. ‘Lord of gods, recite a verse!’ ‘bhaṇa, devānaminda, gāthan’ti. ‘Lord of gods, recite a verse!’ ‘bhaṇa, devānaminda, gāthan’ti. ‘Lord of gods, recite a verse!’ Sakkassa devānamindassa subhāsitena jayo’ti. Sakka, lord of gods, wins victory by fine words!’
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo mātali saṅgāhakaṁ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, addressed his charioteer Mātali in verse: ‘Evaṁ, bhaddantavā’ti kho, bhikkhave, mātali saṅgāhako sakkassa devānamindassa paṭissutvā sahassayuttaṁ ājaññarathaṁ paccudāvattesi. ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Mātali. And he turned the chariot back around, with its team of a thousand thoroughbreds.
“Bhūtapubbaṁ, bhikkhave, sakkassa devānamindassa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṁ cetaso parivitakko udapādi: “Once upon a time, mendicants, as Sakka, lord of gods, was in private retreat this thought came to his mind, Atha kho, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo sakkassa devānamindassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya yena sakko devānamindo tenupasaṅkami. And then Vepacitti, lord of titans, knowing what Sakka was thinking, approached him.
Verocanaasurindasutta Verocana, Lord of Titans Verocanaasurindasutta → virocanaasurindasuttaṁ (sya-all, pts2ed); virocana-asurindo (attho) (pts1ed) Atha kho sakko ca devānamindo verocano ca asurindo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṁsu; upasaṅkamitvā paccekaṁ dvārabāhaṁ nissāya aṭṭhaṁsu. Then Sakka, lord of gods, and Verocana, lord of titans, approached the Buddha and stationed themselves one by each door-post.
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko ca devānamindo vepacitti ca asurindo yena te isayo sīlavanto kalyāṇadhammā tenupasaṅkamiṁsu. Then Sakka, lord of gods, and Vepacitti, lord of titans, went to those seers.
Yannūna mayaṁ sambaraṁ asurindaṁ upasaṅkamitvā abhayadakkhiṇaṁ yāceyyāmā’ti. Why don’t we approach Sambara, lord of titans, and beg him for a pledge of safety.’
Sakko, bhikkhave, devānamindo devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kāreti, tasmā devānamindoti vuccati. Sakka rules as sovereign lord over the gods of the Thirty-Three. That’s why he’s called lord of gods.
“Diṭṭho kho, bhante, bhagavatā sakko devānamindo”ti? “Sir, have you seen Sakka, lord of gods?” Sakko, mahāli, devānamindo devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kāreti, tasmā devānamindoti vuccati. Sakka rules as sovereign lord over the gods of the Thirty-Three. That’s why he’s called Devānaminda, lord of gods.
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṁse āmantesi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, addressed the gods of the Thirty-Three, Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṁse anunayamāno tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imā gāthāyo abhāsi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, guiding the gods of the Thirty-Three, recited this verse:
Atha kho sakko devānamindo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho sakko devānamindo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and said to him,
Atha kho sakko devānamindo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side,
Atha kho sakko ca devānamindo brahmā ca sahampati yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṁsu; upasaṅkamitvā paccekaṁ dvārabāhaṁ nissāya aṭṭhaṁsu. Then Sakka, lord of gods, and Brahmā Sahampati approached the Buddha and stationed themselves one by each door-post. “Na kho, devānaminda, tathāgatā evaṁ vanditabbā. “Lord of gods, that’s not how to pay homage to the Realized Ones.
Atha kho sakko devānamindo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side,
“bhūtapubbaṁ, bhikkhave, aññataro yakkho dubbaṇṇo okoṭimako sakkassa devānamindassa āsane nisinno ahosi. “Once upon a time, mendicants, there was a native spirit who was ugly and deformed. He sat on the throne of Sakka, lord of gods. Ayaṁ yakkho dubbaṇṇo okoṭimako sakkassa devānamindassa āsane nisinno’ti. This ugly and deformed spirit is sitting on the throne of Sakka, the lord of gods.’ ‘sakkohaṁ, mārisa, devānamindo, sakkohaṁ, mārisa, devānamindo’ti. ‘Good sir, I am Sakka, lord of gods! Good sir, I am Sakka, the lord of gods!’ Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo sake āsane nisīditvā deve tāvatiṁse anunayamāno tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imā gāthāyo abhāsi: Then Sakka, lord of gods, guiding the gods of the Thirty-Three, recited this verse:
“bhūtapubbaṁ, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo ābādhiko ahosi dukkhito bāḷhagilāno. “Once upon a time, mendicants, Vepacitti, lord of titans, was sick, suffering, gravely ill. ‘tikiccha maṁ, devānamindā’ti. ‘Heal me, lord of gods!’ Atha kho, bhikkhave, vepacitti asurindo asure paṭipucchi: Then Vepacitti, lord of titans, asked the titans, ‘vācemahaṁ, mārisā, sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ sambarimāyan’ti? ‘Good sirs, may I teach the Sambari sorcery to Sakka, lord of gods?’

Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho sakko devānamindo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and said to him: “Santi kho, devānaminda, cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā, iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasaṁhitā rajanīyā. “Lord of gods, there are sights known by the eye that are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.
“ime pana muṇḍakā samaṇakā ibbhā kaṇhā bandhupādāpaccā, imesaṁ bharatakānaṁ sakkatā garukatā mānitā pūjitā apacitā”ti. “These shavelings, fake ascetics, primitives, black spawn from the feet of our kinsman, the Lord! They’re honored, respected, revered, venerated, and esteemed by those who pretend to inherit Vedic culture.” kaṇhā → kiṇhā (bj, pts1ed)
‘kahaṁ, bho purisa, imassa nagarassa nagarassāmī’ti? ‘Mister, where is the lord of the city?’ Atha kho taṁ sīghaṁ dūtayugaṁ nagarassāmikassa yathābhūtaṁ vacanaṁ niyyātetvā yathāgatamaggaṁ paṭipajjeyya. Then that swift pair of messengers would deliver a message of truth to the lord of the city and depart the way they came. nagarassāmikassa → nagarasāmissa (bj, sya-all, pts1ed) " Atha kho taṁ sīghaṁ dūtayugaṁ nagarassāmikassa yathābhūtaṁ vacanaṁ niyyātetvā yathāgatamaggaṁ paṭipajjeyya. deliver a message of truth to the lord of the city and depart the way they came. ‘Nagarassāmī’ti kho, bhikkhu, viññāṇassetaṁ adhivacanaṁ. ‘The lord of the city’ is a term for consciousness.

Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with five hundred deities came up to Mahāmoggallāna, bowed, and stood to one side. Mahāmoggallāna said to him: “Sādhu kho, devānaminda, buddhasaraṇagamanaṁ hoti. “Lord of gods, it’s good to go for refuge to the Buddha. buddhasaraṇagamanaṁ → buddhaṁ saraṇagamanaṁ (bj) Atha kho sakko devānamindo chahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with six hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo sattahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with seven hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo aṭṭhahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eight hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo asītiyā devatāsahassehi saddhiṁ yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ mahāmoggallānaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eighty thousand deities … Atha kho sakko devānamindo pañcahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ mahāmoggallānaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with five hundred deities came up to Mahāmoggallāna, bowed, and stood to one side. Mahāmoggallāna said to him: “Sādhu kho, devānaminda, buddhe aveccappasādena samannāgamanaṁ hoti: “Lord of gods, it’s good to have experiential confidence in the Buddha: Atha kho sakko devānamindo chahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe…. Then Sakka, lord of gods, with six hundred deities … Atha kho sakko devānamindo sattahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe…. Then Sakka, lord of gods, with seven hundred deities … Atha kho sakko devānamindo aṭṭhahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe…. Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eight hundred deities … Atha kho sakko devānamindo asītiyā devatāsahassehi saddhiṁ yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ mahāmoggallānaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eighty thousand deities … Atha kho sakko devānamindo pañcahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ mahāmoggallānaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with five hundred deities came up to Mahāmoggallāna, bowed, and stood to one side. Mahāmoggallāna said to him: “Sādhu kho, devānaminda, buddhe aveccappasādena samannāgamanaṁ hoti: “Lord of gods, it’s good to have experiential confidence in the Buddha: Atha kho sakko devānamindo chahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with six hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo sattahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with seven hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo aṭṭhahi devatāsatehi saddhiṁ …pe… Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eight hundred deities … atha kho sakko devānamindo asītiyā devatāsahassehi saddhiṁ yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ mahāmoggallānaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitaṁ kho sakkaṁ devānamindaṁ āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca: Then Sakka, lord of gods, with eighty thousand deities … "
“kiñcāpi, bhikkhave, rājā cakkavattī catunnaṁ dīpānaṁ issariyādhipaccaṁ rajjaṁ kāretvā kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjati devānaṁ tāvatiṁsānaṁ sahabyataṁ, so tattha nandane vane accharāsaṅghaparivuto dibbehi ca pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappito samaṅgībhūto paricāreti, so catūhi dhammehi asamannāgato, atha kho so aparimuttova nirayā aparimutto tiracchānayoniyā aparimutto pettivisayā aparimutto apāyaduggativinipātā. “Mendicants, suppose a wheel-turning monarch were to rule as sovereign lord over these four continents. And when his body breaks up, after death, he’s reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm, in the company of the gods of the Thirty-Three. There he entertains himself in the Garden of Delight, escorted by a band of nymphs, and supplied and provided with the five kinds of heavenly sensual stimulation. Still, as he’s lacking four things, he’s not exempt from hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm.
