Thus have I heard: | 如是我闻: |
At one time the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in the Jeta Grove near Śrāvastī. | 一时,佛住舍卫国祇树给孤独园。 |
At that time, a Kāmāvacara deity of exceptional beauty came to where the Buddha was in the latter part of the night, bowed his head at the Buddha’s feet, and sat to one side. His body’s radiance illuminated the Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in the Jeta Grove. | 时,有迦摩天子,容色绝妙,于后夜时来诣佛所,稽首佛足,退坐一面。其身光明遍照祇树给孤独园。 |
At that time, the Kāmāvacara deity spoke a verse to ask the Buddha: | 时,彼迦摩天子说偈问佛: |
