The chapter on the Way and benefits means that rulers, fathers, and teachers should open up the right path and lead people with righteousness. | |
People know to serve their superiors, rulers, fathers, and teachers, and those who practice the Way. They have faith, discipline, generosity, learning, and wisdom, and will have good fortune and peace in their future lives.
In past lives, they had blessings and merits, and in this life, they are born as honored ones. They bring peace to the world through the Way, and all who uphold the Dharma follow them.
The king is the father of his subjects. He always treats them with kindness and love He leads by example with the precepts of the Dharma, showing them what is auspicious and inauspicious.
Being at ease does not mean forgetting about danger. Foresight makes blessings grow thicker. The rewards of blessings and virtues do not ask about one's status.
The ruler of the world, correcting without injustice, Taming the mind to overcome all evil - such is the Dharma King.
Seeing the righteous, one can bestow kindness, Loving and benefiting others, having benefited equally, Such is the gathering of close followers.
Like a bull crossing a river, leading the right, the followers also follow the right, Upholding the Dharma, the mind is not crooked - such is the universal peace of the assembly.
Do not falsely disturb the divine elephant, Inviting suffering and pain with evil intentions for self-slaughter, One will never reach the good direction.
The virtue of precepts can be relied upon, Merit and retribution always follow oneself, seeing the Dharma is long for others, One will forever distance oneself from the three evil paths.
Being cautious removes the fear of suffering, merit and virtue are honored in the three realms, ghosts, dragons, and evil poisons Do not violate the person who upholds the precepts.
Without meaning, one is not sincere and trustworthy, deceitful and fond of disputes One should know to distance oneself from this, approaching fools increases many offenses;
| 无义不诚信, 欺妄好鬪诤,当知远离此, 近愚兴罪多;
The virtuous and wise speak sincerely and are trustworthy, learned and endowed with precepts and conduct One should know to be close to this, approaching the wise is truly good in many ways;
Good words do not uphold precepts, the mind is chaotic and without good conduct, Though the body may be hidden, this is not the Dharma of learning;
Beautiful speech is the best, Dharma speech is second Loving speech is third, sincere speech is fourth, not deceiving;
Without convenience, one obtains a sharp blade and uses it to harm oneself. The foolish learn to enjoy false speech, and their actions lead to suffering and misfortune;
Greed, anger, and delusion - these three are not the basis of goodness The body is harmed by these, and retribution arises from delusion and love;
Those with merit become heavenly beings and humans, while those who violate the Dharma receive evil forms. The sages clearly see this alone and always follow the Buddha's instructions;
The merit of precepts and virtues in future lives follows one's body. Heavenly beings and humans praise goodness, and the mind is upright without any unease;
Doing evil without thinking to stop, bound by the day without regret, life passes like a flowing stream. This is to be feared, one should uphold the precepts;
Now my head is white, and my body is stolen by aging There is already an angel summoning me. It is time to leave home;
