Dharmapada (T 210)

The section on hell is about the path of hell, where one experiences suffering due to one's evil deeds, being dragged along by one's karma.

The hell of lying is near, doing it but saying you
didn't, two sins to be received later, this action drags you there.

The Dharma robes are on their bodies, yet they commit evil without
restraint. If they indulge in evil deeds, they will eventually fall into hell.

How can they not harm themselves by accepting offerings without precepts?
After death, they eat burning iron balls, hotter than burning charcoal.

There are four things in indulgence: Liking to violate others' wives
lying in danger, not benefiting, slandering the Three, and indulging in sex.

Not benefiting, falling into evil, fearing evil, fearing few
pleasures, heavily punished by royal law, dying, entering hell.

It is like pulling a reed, if held loosely, the hand is injured. If
one studies precepts but does not restrain oneself, the prison record will then be self-destructive.

If one's conduct is lazy and indolent, unable to eliminate various afflictions, the
practice of purity will be flawed, one will ultimately not receive great blessings.

Always practice what should be practiced, uphold oneself and make it strong
stay far away from non-Buddhists, do not cultivate as dust and defilements.

Doing what should not be done, then leading to great harm, practicing goodness is
always auspicious and in accord, wherever one goes, there is no regret or stinginess.

For those who wish to do or have done various evil deeds
this suffering is incomprehensible, the sin is close and difficult to avoid.

Falsely seeking defeat, having already acted improperly, slandering good people and unjustly
punishing scholars, the sin binds these people, throwing themselves into a pit.

Like a border city, the inside and outside are firmly guarded. Guarding one's own mind, unrighteousness does
not arise. If one's conduct is deficient, it will cause worry and lead to falling into hell.

Shameless and not ashamed,
ashamed of what should not be ashamed. Born with wrong views, one will fall into hell after death;

可羞不羞,  非羞反羞,生为邪见,死堕地狱;

Fearful and not fearful, fearful of what should not be feared
Believing in wrong views, one will fall into hell after death;

Avoidable and not avoidable,
not approaching what should be approached. Indulging in wrong views, one will fall into hell after death;

可避不避,可就不就,玩习邪见,  死堕地狱;

Approachable and approachable,
avoidable and avoidable. Always upholding right views, one will fall into the good paths after death;
