Dharmapada (T 210)

The chapter on weapons teaches the practice of kindness and compassion, without resorting to weapons or harming sentient beings.

All fear death, and none are not afraid of the pain of the
staff. Consider yourself as an example, do not kill, do not use the staff.

Those who can always bring peace to all beings, without inflicting any harm, will not
encounter harm in this life, and will be long at ease in the next life.

One should not speak harshly, for words will be feared as retribution. Evil leads to misfortune, and weapons return to the body;

不当麤言,  言当畏报,恶往祸来,刀杖归躯;

Speaking with goodness is like striking a bell or chime. The
body is not subject to discussion, and transcending the world becomes easy.

Those who falsely accuse the innocent with a cane or staff will suffer ten times the calamity, with swift retribution.

In this life, they will suffer intense pain; their bodies will be maimed and broken; they will naturally suffer from illness and mental confusion;

生受酷痛;  形体毁折;自然恼病;失意恍惚;

They will be falsely accused by others; they may face difficulties with the county
officials; their wealth and property will be exhausted; their relatives and friends will be separated;

人所诬咎;  或县官厄;财产耗尽;  亲戚离别;

Their homes and possessions will be burned by fire; when they die, they will enter hell. These are the ten consequences.

Even if they shave their heads, wear long robes of grass, bathe, and sit on rocks, how can they eliminate their delusions and attachments?

They do not cut down, kill, or burn, nor do they seek
victory. People love them and wherever they go, there is no resentment.

In the world, there are those who can know shame and modesty. This is called guiding and
advancing, like urging a good horse, like urging a fine horse, advancing on the path can go far.

People who have faith, precepts, concentration, and diligence, who receive the path and attain wisdom, will then extinguish all suffering.

Self-adornment through cultivating the Dharma, extinguishing harm and receiving pure conduct, not striking
sentient beings with a staff - this is the path of a śramaṇa.

Harmless to the world, one will never be harmed throughout
one's life. Always compassionate towards all, who can be an enemy?
