T 210.22 述佛品法句经第二十二二十有一章

The chapter on the Buddha describes the Buddha's spiritual virtues, which are beneficial and liberating, and clarifies the way to be a model for the world.

述佛品者,道佛神德,无不利度,明为世则。

One's own victory does not accept evil, and one is victorious over the
world. Wisdom is vast and boundless, opening up the ignorant to enter the path.

己胜不受恶,  一切胜世间,叡智廓无彊,  开曚令入道。

The net of doubt is unobstructed, and with the end of attachment, there is nothing accumulated. The
Buddha's intention is profound and limitless, causing those who have not yet tread the path to tread it.

决网无罣碍,  爱尽无所积,佛意深无极,  未践迹令践。

Courageously establishing a single-minded intention, leaving home day and night to extinguish. Cutting
off the roots, with no intention of desire, studying right mindfulness and clarity.

勇健立一心,  出家日夜灭,根断无欲意,  学正念清明。

Seeing the truth, pure and undefiled, already crossing the abyss of the five paths
The Buddha appears, illuminating the world, to remove the worries and suffering of all.

见谛净无秽,  已度五道渊,佛出照世间,  为除众忧苦。

It is difficult to be born in the human realm, and difficult to obtain birth and longevity
It is difficult for a Buddha to appear in the world, and difficult to hear the Buddha's teachings.

得生人道难、  生寿亦难得;世间有佛难,  佛法难得闻。

Since I have no one to rely on, and also no companions, I will
accumulate one practice to attain Buddhahood, and naturally realize the path of the sages.

我既无归保,  亦独无伴侣,积一行得佛,  自然通圣道。

The boatman can cross the water, and diligence is the bridge. People are
bound by their family lineage, but the one who crosses is the hero.

船师能渡水,  精进为桥梁,人以种姓系,  度者为健雄。

Destroying evil is being a Buddha, stopping the ground is being a Brahmin, eliminating
hunger is studying the Dharma, and cutting off the lineage is being a disciple.

坏恶度为佛,  止地为梵志,除馑为学法,  断种为弟子。

Contemplation and practice are the foremost, the Buddha said nirvana is
supreme. Abandoning sin and becoming a monk, do not harm others.

观行忍第一,  佛说泥洹最,舍罪作沙门,  无娆害于彼。

Not harming or disturbing, upholding all precepts as taught. Eating
little and abandoning attachment to the body, practicing in secluded
places. With wisdom and discernment, one can uphold the Buddha's teachings.

不娆亦不恼,  如戒一切持,少食舍身贪,  有行幽隐处。意谛以有黠,  是能奉佛教。

Do not do any evil, practice all that is good, purify one's own mind - this is the Buddha's teaching.

诸恶莫作,  诸善奉行,自净其意,是诸佛教。

The Buddha is the most honored, having severed afflictions and eliminated
desire. The lion among the Śākyas, leading a group of followers.

佛为尊贵,  断漏无婬,诸释中雄,  一群从心。

How wonderful! The rewards of merit are all accomplished. Being quick in supreme tranquility, one attains nirvāṇa by oneself.

快哉福报,所愿皆成,敏于上寂,  自致泥洹。

Some take refuge in mountain gods, river gods, and tree spirits. Temples are built with images, and sacrifices are made to seek blessings;

或多自归,  山川树神,庙立图像,祭祠求福;

Taking refuge in this way is not auspicious or
supreme. They cannot come to liberate me from suffering.

自归如是,  非吉、非上,彼不能来,  度我众苦。

If one takes refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha, the four noble truths of the noble path, one will surely see true wisdom.

如有自归,佛法圣众,道德四谛,  必见正慧。

The extreme suffering of birth and death can be liberated through the truths. The eightfold path that transcends the world eliminates all suffering.

生死极苦,  从谛得度,度世八道,斯除众苦。

Taking refuge in the Three Jewels is the most
auspicious and supreme. Only this can liberate from all suffering.

自归三尊,  最吉、最上,唯独有是,  度一切苦。

Those who are upright and sincere, who are committed to the Way without stinginess, are indeed fortunate! Those who take refuge in the Buddha.

士如中正,志道不悭,利哉!斯人,  自归佛者。

It is difficult to encounter an enlightened person, who is not like others. Wherever they are born, their relatives and friends are blessed.

明人难值,  亦不比有,其所生处,族亲蒙庆。

The arising of the Buddhas is wonderful, the teaching of the Dharma is
wonderful, the harmony of the assembly is wonderful - harmony always brings peace.

诸佛兴快,  说经道快,众聚和快,  和则常安。
